Rusty loves these folk. Highly recommend.
The vet techs have had a turnover and the two that we have dealt with the past two times are either very uncomfortable with their jobs or completely incompetent. One forcibly pushed a dog into the reception area and scolded it... Right in front of us. The other (whom we always get stuck with in the exam room) is extremely nervous and awkward and unable to answer very basic questions. "How long can I expect noticeable swelling?" (as the little girl walked our dog to us after his surgery). "Um. I don't know. Do you want me to ask the doctor?" Yes, if you don't know something... I want you to ask a doctor. (I can't decide if these are actually certified technicians, assistants, or someone's relatives: kids, nieces, etc., who needed jobs on summer vacation from high school.) My dog had a cherry eye surgery, four teeth removed during a routine dental cleaning, and a skin tag removed (resulting in three stitches) all at once. NO antibiotics to take home and NO pain medicine. He was shuddering (in pain) between breaths on his first day post-op.
I went to this vet secondly after originally going to a VCA. So glad I took a chance on this small shop. The secretaries, tech's and doc's were very nice and informative. On a booked day, before a holiday, they managed to squeeze my pup in for a couple vaccines. This never happens! So, they have sealed me and all my pets in for their care.
Love this Place and The Doctors Really Cares about your Pet ( babies ) wouldn't go anywhere Else
Thank you! for taking care my puppy which was very ill suddenly after something he eat. While I was not part of this clinic, they answer to my emergency call with so much kindness and professionalism, that we now moving our pets records to this clinic. Please continue with the good work.
I won't let someone take their emotional, petty, personal problems out on my dogs. My dogs deserve the very best care, so I can no longer, in good conscience, keep bringing them here.
This clinic is not at all what it used to be under the Drs. Whitaker. The communication is absolutely terrible. There is too much reliance on either untrained or incompetent staff for communication. When staff is still training, they should not be the only point of contact between the patient and the doctor--especially not after a surgery or in an emergency. We had gone there for 10 years, but we won't be back. Our dog, an established patient for 5 years, was turned away with a 106.2-degree fever. That could have been fatal. In 10 years of coming here, this was our very first life-or-death situation. We were referred to an emergency clinic (a ridiculously far-away emergency clinic, at that, when several other local vets were open, including at least two hospitals) at 1 pm on a Friday. How incompetent and asinine is that? It's more than that. It's negligent. Emergency clinics are great for off-hours. They are lifesaving when they are actually local. Three vets' names on the door, 4 business hours left in the day, NO vets present in the office, and NO service. Two "techs" (I doubt they are certified) and a receptionist in the office. That's all. I assure you, only the owner-vet was notified about our situation and she made the call to tell us to get lost. The other two vets weren't even notified, I'm sure. Had Dr. Whitaker been consulted, I would have at least gotten advice over the phone. Good advice... Directly from him... Not a game of go-between with a vet "tech" who seems to be at her very first job. My dog's fever was off-the-charts and we relayed that when we called. Other local vets were open. The "tech" came into our exam room with her hands filled with trash (like she'd been cleaning), with a door hanger from an emergency clinic that looked like she'd pulled it straight from the garbage. Super-professional. If you can't get me in, I'll take my business elsewhere... Locally ... But, I certainly am not interested in a 30 minute drive to a 24-hr emergency clinic (with poor reviews) just because this place has a partnership with them.
