Awesome old school feel, mainly because it has been in business since 1949. Okd school counter to eat at, old school large refrigeration unit behind the counter, old school delicious food, old school high quality service, large portions and old school prices. Top notch. A Fort Worth jewel!
I'm so glad I found this place while researching for "Where Locals Eat" in Fort Worth. Don't let its small size fool you. The food is comfort food at its best. My boyfriend and I were so pleased with our first meal that we came back a few days later to try their pies. Insider note: they only make two pies a week (coconut cream and chocolate cream), on Wednesdays. Don't worry though, their daily dessert specials are just as delicious.
I have breakfast at the Montgomery Street Cafe several times each week. My usual order is two soft-poached eggs and extra crispy hash browns. Every single time, the guys in the kitchen make me a perfect breakfast so thanks to Angel and Fernando. The ladies in the front part of the restaurant are efficient and friendly so a big thanks to Narissa and Judy. If you aren't on a diet, I highly recommend the homemade biscuits and gravy that are included in the $5 breakfast. Their homemade rolls, soups, desserts and hand-battered fried chicken Fridays are the best around. It's even worth dealing with the construction traffic on Montgomery Street. Go check it out. You'll be glad you did.
