This is a tourist spot and you’ll pay tourist prices for the attractions and souvenirs. $10 to sit on a longhorn and take photos on your own camera, $10 for parking etc
Once the cattle have dispersed, you can head towards the shops (located along the train tracks as strange as that sounds) and stop for a bite of southern fare at one of the diners. The shops lining the sides boast a large variety of Texas merchandise (armadillos and John Wayne items galore).
If you go further up the street, you'll find a miniature train for kids on the sidewalk, a mechanical bull to ride, and numerous Texas Ranger plagues on the street. You can't get a more authentic Texas experience anywhere else.
Great location in the Fort Worth area. Plenty of cool bars and restaurants with great food and atmosphere. Family friendly with a petting zoo area. Also has a rodeo stadium.
Personally, I liked a smaller shop called 'Candy Barrel' which sells a large array of goodies. I was drawn to it for the fact that it had 'Dean Russo' t-shirts displayed in its windows. They make the perfect gifts for animal lovers!
We ate at Riscky’s BBQ — highly recommend the food and it’s a great value!
Multiple times a day they have a cattle drive that comes down the street. A few cowboys mounted on horses lead them past the gawking citizens. It's a really intriguing sight and it's definitely worth snapping a few pictures.
A must-see tourist spot if you’re visiting the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I enjoyed seeing the cattle drive and browsing the Old West shops. They’re great for picking up a snack or a souvenir. My local friend made sure I bought a bottle of Dublin Dr. Pepper — unique to TX! If you go through the other side of the shops you can see where they keep horses. I also saw a mule and got a glimpse of a reindeer.
My family and I enjoy coming to the Stockyards to hang out. There’s plenty of shops and attractions to keep you busy for a while as well as places to take cute family photos. We recently visited the petting zoo and it was a fun experience. Overall great place to sightsee and spend the day.
Excellent little day trip. Very Nostalgic. Many things to take in, very beautiful shops and little museums tucked away. Very fun to watch the long horns travel the streets. The cowboys where very pleasant and added wonderful charm while being very informative. The woman on crowd control had a very less then desired attitude and bit of a power trip for some one who is in direct public contact. Her manners where disappointing and rather offensive. Everything else was wonderful
Often you can find a cowboy standing on sidewalk with one of the cattle (for a couple dollars you can sit on the steer and your family can take a picture). One of the bars further up the street is called the 'White Elephant', and it was used as the set for CD's bar on the television show 'Walker Texas Ranger'.
Along the Main Street, there are plaques similar to Hollywood’s Walk of Fame that highlight famous Texans such as Annie Oakley.
