We always have a great experience here. Wonderful little kids area, a great selection of kids videos and books, and the staff are great!
This is the best public library in the area. Small but they have good collection of books and newer DVDs. I would expect library hours to 12 to 8 p.m. on more days..I don't like the idea that they are closed on Sunday. Near by Keller Public Library is open on Sundays.. may be they can do something about the timings.
PREV REVIEW: As you could read, pretty much all the reviews were done a long time ago. I used to LOVE Summerglen library. The staff was very nice, cheerful, the selection and condition of books were awesome but unfortunately, everything has been changing. Not sure what have happened behind the scenes but for all this year, I have been having problems after problems with Fort Worth library:
NOTIFICATIONS: First, I was getting notifications on my phone that my books were ready to pick up at Summerglen. After going all the way over there, my books were not on the shelf (where they put them on hold). Several times, I asked the staff to help me locate the books. So they would immediately check my account and see that the books were ready. Then, I would see them walking everywhere looking for them but they could never find them. So I always ended up, leaving and returning a couple of days later so I can find them (BIG WASTE OF TIME). That's something that NEVER happened to me before. Now, when I receive a notification on my phone, I just wait a couple of days before going there. I shouldn't have to do that. If I am asking for a book is because I want or need to read it.
I miss the previous library staff! They were very knowledgeable and you could tell that they LOVED and KNEW what they were doing. The current staff is just there.
UPDATE from 2 to 5 stars: After several issues that I had with them last year, they have been doing a great job again. I am glad to see things back to normal or even better than before! I have not had any more issues with "missing books/videos". Also, I have requested many books again and they have been in the right place! I have also noticed several positive changes such as the "red box" shelf which is very creative! Thanks!!
Librarians are a bit rude. Their children's area has two computers, one which is broken. The layout of the library is easy to understand.
Great library, helpful staff. We've had several Girl Scout events here. When the church next door isn't overwhelming the parking lot and traffic, it's also a decent pokestop.
…to my surprise, I got late fees for three of those movies that I mentioned before!!! If I returned like 10 movies at the SAME TIME, how come 3 were returned late and the others were on time? It didn’t make sense!!! At that point, I decided to go directly to the library to address this issue. I spoke to the Manager and he removed the additional fees from my account after looking at the books / movies that I checked out, etc. Once, I arrived at home, I checked my account again and it looked fine so I thought that it was finally over. Wrong!! Since this is the closest library for me, I requested 3 additional books. I got the notification that one of them was ready so today, I went to my account to check the status of the other two books…and to my surprise, I had a fee for $8.00!!! Yes, “they haven’t found the movie”. I don’t even think that they took the time to look for it. Why did I have to pay $8.oo for Summerglen library’s mistake and disorganization???!!! Yes, I paid it even when I shouldn’t since it wasn’t my mistake. First, I thought about going over there AGAIN but of course they will say that they “looked for it” and my account will remain with the negative balance. If it would be my fault, I would take responsibility for it but this was NOT MY MISTAKE.
THINGS GETTING LOST: I have borrowed a lot of books and movies from Summerglen throughout the years and I had never have problems with things getting lost...until now! Few weeks ago, I borrowed like 10 movies and I returned all of them ON TIME and AT THE SAME TIME, before they were even open. What happened? I always to my account to double check that everything was cleared BUT that didn’t happen. I noticed that one of those movies was still showing on the list of items that I had when I know that I already returned it and ON TIME. I gave them few hours just in case they were still processing materials from the previous night. Since the movie was still on my active list, I called them and let them know that I did return the movie with the other ones. The guy told me that they would make a note and check on that. No fees would be applied to my account if they could locate the movie. Later on, I checked my account again to make sure that this was done and yes, the item was removed from the list but…
